Pictures of our wonderful students 2010

Making Scones

During ELI lessons the students wrote recipes for scones, discussed the ingredients as well as the utensils (things we needed to make them).

Then the fun started and the students followed their own recipes and and made delicious scones.

We ate them with butter, jam and cream - mmmmmmm

Here is the recipe so you can make at home... (picture above)

Ingredients

3 cups plain flour
6 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
75 g butter
1-1 1/2 cup milk
extra milk

Directions

1Sift flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl.
2Cut butter in until it resembles fine breadcrumbs.
3Add milk and mix quickly with a knife to a soft dough.
4Knead a few times.
5Lightly dust an oven tray with flour.
6Press scone dough out onto this.
7Cut into 12 even-sized pieces.
8Leave a 2 cm space between scones.
9Brush tops with milk.
10Bake at 220C for 10 minutes or until golden brown.

2010 Peer Support Students

The following students have been selected to represent the student community both Chinese and Korean.

They are responsible for public speaking, attending school council meetings, following through on school inititives and helping translate with other students or for written documents.

We are VERY proud of them!!!

Term one - We visitied Auckland city for an International Welcome at the Auckland Town Hall. The students experienced a traditional Maori welcome, saw many cultural performances and were surprised to get given a goodie bag at the end of the presentation.

Afterwards we walked had lunch in Albert park, next to Auckland university, walked down Queen street and caught the ferry boat to Devonport.
What a fantastic day!
Hopefully we will get another opportunity in 2011.
